Scenic air tours of Australia
To reach as a traveller into outback Australia requires planning and time. There is for the mature and senior traveller much to see in this ancient continent with a long and deep Aboriginal history and intriguing landscape and colonial history to be explored often distinguished by iconic destinations such as Lake Argyle, Kununurra the Kimberley regionWet and dry seasons in the Kimberley, Australia and the Ord river or the Bungle Bungle all in Western Australia. On the other side in outback Queensland is the Great Barrier reef often reached by Cairns or Port Douglas, Hamilton island and then the flashy gold coast. Whilst in the centre running from South Australia into the Northern Territory, the Australian outback is the Flinders, and the painted hills of the desert of the Oodnadatta track, Birdsville, the pink lake running up through Kata tjuta and national park of Kakadu.
A scenic air tour in a privately chartered aircraft such as the Cessna caravan enables the time restricted traveller to view some of the iconic destinations. A scenic air tour for senior and mature travellers is a effecient way of travelling against the expense of a private air tour in a private aircraft or planned use of helicopter tours. With a knowledgable guide, a commercial pilot minded to maximising your time on the ground between destinations will provide you with a terrific collection of day tour experiences.
An air charter service for you.
Within Australia there are a range of private plane options suitable for an aircraft charter service operation. As a tour operator working with the private aviation sector we are selecting the right aircraft for the small group tour of outback Australia offered. Typically this means that the right aircraft is a turboprop for a charter flight rather than a private jet charter to meet the safety and comfort of all involved in accessing some of these unique places where the bush airport services are limited.
When choosing an Odyssey Traveller air charter small group tour the company remains committed to using private aircraft that are fit for purpose. We are not seeking to be a commercial airline nor offer large aircraft charters where you fly with 15-20 passenger on a flight. For Odyssey as the tour operator, the air charter service program offered is for up to 12 passenger to have charted the entire aircraft from a reputable aircraft charter service within the aviation industry of Australia.

The following questions are regularly asked by mature and senior travellers considering joining an Air charter service small group tour of the Australian outback.
Who takes private group air tours?
Odyssey Traveller clients are typically aged from early 60’s to late 80’s and it is this client base who choose to join us as a passenger on an air charter program. The private air charter program is typically limited to 12 people plus a program leader and the flight crew of up to two people.
Life safety on an air tour?
Any scenic air tour or private air charter service will comply with life safety as prescribed by CASA, that is the civil aviation standards authority of Australia. The requirements are the same whether using a charter plane or commercial airline or departing from major airports or the local airport in the bush. Passenger life safety and the skills of the pilot are important.
How safe are small planes?
In such a vast continent as Australia taking a small group tour in a private aircraft is safe. Odyssey commissions aviation services from a reputable air charter operator for its air services. We tend also to start and finish our air charter service each day away from major airports for convenience and safety.
Privately chartered aircraft are expensive.
Against other forms of available ground transportation aviation services are more expensive. However, using a charter flight means in Australia you have easy access to the extremely remote areas and a bush airport or strip where infrastructure for ground transport is restricted. So the use of air charter services on a small group tour provides you with experiences in a small group not available via the ground. Using a charter plane for a passenger group of between 4-8 travellers is more cost and time efficient that a helicopter for example.
